NJ Workers Compensation Back Injury Claim

The most common variety of workers compensation claim encountered in New Jersey is unquestionably a back injury claim.  Not surprisingly, employers and their workers compensation insurance carriers are well schooled in defending these claims and you should have the same benefit.  The workers compensation lawyers at our New Jersey law firm have years of experience representing individuals who have injured their back in the workplace.

Herniated Disc & Other Lumbar Back Injuries at Work

The lower back is subjected to a wide variety of stresses in the workplace and this can lead to injury.  The typical scenario is a worker suffering what appears to be a lumbar or lower back sprain.  The injury lingers and the workers compensation claimant is eventually referred for a MRI of his back by the insurance carrier for the employer.  The MRI reveals that the injured employee has a herniated disc or some other form of disc injury. This type of workplace injury often manifests in the form of lower back pain or radiating nerve pain referred to as radiculopathy (i.e. nerve impingment).  The disc injury and resulting nerve injury can be so severe as to require surgical decompression.  Others are aided through lumbar injections (e.g. epidurals) to abate the symptoms of their back injury.  We have learned through years of experience that this process is substantially improved when a knowledgeable workers compensation lawyer, such as those at our firm, is at the side of a claimant.  Otherwise, the claimant can be subjected to unnecessary delay and/or abuse by the employer or its insurer in processing benefits for a back injury, for example, timely referring the claimant for epidural back injections or an MRI.
