Head and Brain Injury

Workers Compensation Attorneys for Workers Who Have Sustained Post-Concussion Syndrome, Hematoma, Skull Fracture or Other Brain Injury

A traffic accident, fall, or other accident at work can result in head trauma. Workplace injuries to the head and brain can be the most severe type of workers compensation case. While these cases can often involve rather horrific injury to the head, the presentation of injury may also be less obvious (e.g. closed head trauma resulting in post-concussion syndrome). Our workers compensation lawyers have years of experience in dealing with brain injury cases and know exactly what to look for in prosecuting a head trauma case. A lawyer from our New Jersey workers compensation law firm, the Law Offices of Jonathan F. Marshall, would be happy to meet with you to discuss your head injury claim.

Head injuries can take many forms. A workplace injury to the head may result in obvious trauma such as scalp laceration, skull fracture, brain hemorrhage (bleeding in the brain), hematoma of the brain, or cerebral contusion (bruise of the brain). Where brain swelling and pressure is dangerously high, a craniotomy is typically performed to relieve pressure. Another variety of head trauma is referred to as a closed head injury.

A worker who has suffered a brain injury can experience an assortment of symptoms. In the most severe of cases, an injured worker can experience extended loss of consciousness and even coma. The most common residuals of traumatic brain injury are memory loss, cognitive deficits, mood adjustment, depression, and fatigue. The consolidation of symptoms experienced by a victim of brain trauma is often referred to as post-concussion syndrome.
